WHERE DOES MY DONATION GO?

All proceeds received are given to The Oncology Family Support Fund operated through Children's Mercy Department of Social Work, which provides financial assistance to low income families in the Divisions of Hematology, Oncology, and Bone Marrow Transplant. This support fund helps families overcome economic challenges associated with serious illness. Below is a list of what your generous donation can provide to a family in need.

  • $1,000 - Radiation treatment requires cancer patients and their families be at the hospital for a six week period of time. During the pandemic, there has been a significant increase in the need for lodging support for families traveling from out of town. $1,000 helps to cover the cost of 10 nights in a hotel close to the hospital.

  • $500 – can cover the cost of 20 gas cards and reduce the financial burden for families who travel from across the region for the world-class pediatric cancer care and research available at Children’s Mercy.

  • $250 - can cover the cost of 10 meal cards for parents and siblings who may be spending long hours in the hospital while their loved one is receiving chemotherapy.

  • $100 – can cover the cost of formula for a patient with cancer who requires a GI tube to support critical nutrition during treatment.

  • $50 - can offset the cost of arts and crafts, games and other supplies that offer distraction and fun for patients visiting the hospital for the many, sometimes scary, scans, labs, and procedures associated with a complex cancer diagnosis.
